LOCATIONS

Welcome to Sunflower Cafe & Pub, a hidden gem nestled at 802 Massachusetts St, Lawrence, KS. This delightful establishment has carved a niche for itself in the heart of Lawrence, blending a vibrant community atmosphere with a unique concept that fuses a coffee shop with a bike shop.

As you step inside, you are greeted by a friendly team that embodies the spirit of hospitality. The ambience is perfect for a relaxed meet-up or a solo retreat with a good book and a delicious brew. Whether you're in the mood for a rich, aromatic coffee or a refreshing pint of beer, Sunflower Cafe & Pub caters to all preferences. Customers rave about the extensive menu, which features everything from mouth-watering breakfast burritos to satisfyingly hearty burgers and delectable baked goods, ensuring that every visit feels special.

One of the standout highlights is the variety on the menu. Guests have praised dishes such as the curry chicken salad and soft pretzel—each crafted with care and presented beautifully. My personal favorite, the breakfast burrito, comes with a side of what many believe to be the best salsa in Lawrence. It’s a flavorful experience that pairs perfectly with their fresh coffee brews.

Moreover, the setting itself is remarkable. Customers have noted the upstairs atmosphere as a top-tier spot for relaxation, ideal for sipping on drinks while indulging in a good read. The ample seating and plentiful electrical outlets make it a perfect environment for remote work or casual gatherings. During the holiday season, cozy screenings of beloved movies add a touch of festivity to the cafe's atmosphere.

However, as Cortney Grubbs insightfully mentioned, the addition of ingredient signage for baked goods would further enhance the experience, especially for those with dietary restrictions. Such attention to detail aligns perfectly with the thoughtful, friendly service that seems to define this establishment.

The allure of Sunflower Cafe & Pub is not just in its food and drinks; it's about the community it fosters. Many locals, including those who frequent bicycle races, consider this spot their go-to hangout, and it’s easy to see why. You don't just come for a meal; you come for a shared experience, a relaxing vibe, and a sense of belonging.

If you're in or around Lawrence, make sure to stop by Sunflower Cafe & Pub—where every sip, bite, and moment counts.

Love the friendly staff, the great upstairs atmosphere (top tier chill with a drink and book spot), and menu options! One recommendation: It took a chain of four staff members to find out if the gluten free chocolate chip cookies were made with any almond products. For those of us allergic to tree nuts (and peanuts), it would be amazing to have a little sign of ingredients with the baked goods. I think the Merc has little ingredient lists on their baked goods— something like that would be much appreciated!

My go-to coffee shop for most things! Usually one of the first places I take a friend who's in town visiting, meeting a client for work, working remote or just want a nice environment to read and hang out. Their service is absolutely fantastic and I love that I can grab either type of brew I'm wanting - cup of coffee or pint of beer! In many ways feels like you could be at a bike shop in the middle of Boulder! Also, the amount of seating options and electrical outlets can't be praised enough! You'll enjoy some good holiday movies on TV during season as well :-)

Ok so to start, my wife wanted me to let everyone know that she received compliments on both her hair and her dress while here sooo...testament to the atmosphere I suppose? Everything is great from coffee to cocktails, make sure this place is a priority while you’re on Mass street.

Hip local coffee shop with a bike shop attached. Interesting and unique concept with a lot of space for both bikes and the coffee shop. We were there in the morning and had a breakfast burrito, egg sandwich and a BLT with egg. All were delicious and well prepared. We also had an Americano, a Cappuccino and a latte and all passed with flying colors. Interesting tidbit is that Valteri Bottas, a Formula One driver, visited this place while competing in a bike race held in Lawrence. He will probably continue to visit for as long as he competes in the race which happened to be held the weekend before the Formula One Austin race.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I was expecting mediocre food from a cafe inside a bike shop but everything we had was absolutely delicious. We ordered the curry chicken salad, a burger, and the soft pretzel. The sandwiches came with fries that were perfect. Pricey but worth it.

Every time we drive through Lawrence, we stop at Sunflower! Whethere you're looking for gear, a coffee, or a bite to eat, they have a little something for everyone! Love that the same party can indulge in alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks at the same time! Highly recommend for your next stroll down the street!

A funky cafe in the back of a bike shop. Everyone loved the pastries we got. So much that they didn't last until we got our drinks. Super chill atmosphere and staff were very kind and welcoming. Would stop by again.

We have lived in Lawrence for three years and ate here for the first time. Dang! We were missing out. If you want great coffee options with the best breakfast burritos in town, THIS is the place. We had the breakfast burrito and biscuits & gravy. Both are outstanding. The salsa that came with the burrito is easily the best salsa in Lawrence (sorry El Porto we still love you too). Great staff, our waitress was excellent, friendly and attentive.
